Organization of a Hazards Analysis: Documentation Requirements

In this post we discuss the documentation required for a PHA.

The documentation needed for a hazards analysis will vary according to the scope of the work. However, the following are usually required:

  • Process Chemistry;

  • Block Flow Diagrams (BFDs);

  • Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs);

  • Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs);

  • Plot Plans;

  • Operating Procedures;

  • Safe Upper and Lower limits (particularly pressure and temperature limits for equipment items);

  • Safety Data Sheets;

  • Piping Specifications; and

  • Electrical Area Classification Plot Plans.
